About us

Our Mission

"He iti Marangai tū ana te pāhukahuka he iti pioke nō Rangaunu he au tōna"

Small although the Pioke (dogfish shark) may be, great is its wake, as it traverses the might of the Rangaunu harbour.

Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance the cultural, environmental, and economic interests of Ngaitakoto in the realm of aquaculture. Through sustainable practices and community-driven initiatives, we aim to ensure a prosperous future for generations to come.

Who We Are

Nga Taonga O Ngaitakoto Trust operates under the provisions of two pivotal pieces of legislation, the Māori Fisheries Act 2004 and the Māori Commercial Aquacultural Claims Settlement Act 2004. These acts provide the legal framework necessary for us to effectively manage and govern aquacultural endeavors on behalf of Ngaitakoto.

Our Commitment

At the heart of our trust lies an unwavering commitment to the well-being of Ngaitakoto, the surrounding environment, and the broader community. We strive for a harmonious balance between sustainable aquaculture practices, cultural preservation, and economic prosperity.

Respecting and upholding our cultural heritage is paramount. We draw strength from the wisdom of our ancestors and work tirelessly to ensure that their legacy continues to thrive in the modern world. Our trust serves as a bridge between the past and the present, honoring the traditions that have shaped us.
